As the Spring Festival approaches, Chinese traditional time-honored brands in Beijing are showcasing a vibrant blend of tradition and innovation, offering consumers an array of choices and surprises.
Beijing's Qianmen is a renowned bustling commercial district where people flock to buy New Year goods and where shops of various time-honored brands are clustered.
Neiliansheng, a Chinese traditional cloth shoe maker, used to be a symbol of the ancient court nobility and riches with its exquisite craftsmanship. Now it is updating itself with novel design to catch the attention of young customers.
"It is refreshing. I have seen some shoes, including those from the Qing Dynasty (1644 to 1912). Some shoes have a really strong design sense, which young people appreciate. They're also very comfortable," said Baina, a local visiting Neiliansheng's shop.
Ruifuxiang, a renowned silk brand with a century-long history, not only offers an exquisite range of traditional silk garments but also provides tailored and high-end customized services for customers, allowing them to truly experience the allure of traditional attire.
Tongrentang, a well-known traditional Chinese medicine pharmacy with a history of over 300 years, has introduced a new offline retail concept. Now, alongside its renowned Chinese medicine, it also offers a delightful cuisine infused with traditional herbs.
"This layered crispy pancake uses a sauce made from a variety of herbs. We are now incorporating delicious ingredients on top of a healthy foundation," said Liu Jize, a staff member at a branch store of Tongrentang.
Time-honored brands such as Tongrentang are experiencing renewed vigor through continuous business expansion and product innovation, transiting from traditional offline services to offering more products that cater to various aspects of daily life.
