As the Chinese Lunar New Year is approaching, a seasonally themed event, "Universal's Chinese New Year," was kicked off in the Universal Studios Beijing.

The event, which runs from Jan 27 to March 10, creates a new landmark for visitors to capture the spirit of the Chinese Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival.

The 2024 Chinese Lunar New Year falls on Feb 10. It is based on a 12-year Zodiac cycle of characters, with 2024 being the Year of the Dragon.

Among the 12 zodiac animals, the dragon is a mythical creature that symbolizes prestige and power, and is widely known as an emblem of auspiciousness and good luck.

The Chinese Lunar New Year is China's most important festival and an occasion for family reunion. At the end of Hollywood Boulevard, the Universal's New Year tree of fortune has already been set up. Visitors gathered around and expressed their best wishes for the New Year.

Chinese New Year themed decorations with dragon element are now out on full display throughout the entire resort. Festival gifts and snacks can be founded in shops and fairs as well.

"We've visited the Universal Beijing Resort several times, but I feel the festive atmosphere is quite high due to this Chinese New Year celebration event. We pretty like the resort's peripheral products, like the one he wears. This one is particularly popular," said a visitor.

"When we came here, we saw those lanterns with Chinese elements and dragon element. I felt it's very interesting to see such a layout for the first time in Universal Studios," said another visitor.

After sunset, lanterns are lit up and guests can also enjoy a gala brought by well-known characters, like Po and Tigress from Kung Fu Panda franchise as well as the Minions from Despicable Me franchise.

"It (the performance) incorporates a lot of elements from our favorite movies, including some animation characters, and the interaction with them is particularly funny," said a tourist.
