The "A Spectator of the Light of Time: Yan Ping and Her Art" exhibition was unveiled on Saturday in Suzhou, east China's Jiangsu province, showcasing over 60 pieces of Yan Ping's artworks that presented a unique exhibition style at Suzhou Museum to offer visitors a glimpse into Yan Ping's individual inspirations to life.
This exhibition spans the artist's representative works, marking various stages from the 1990s onward to her recent piece "Suzhou, Suzhou," making its debut appearance. This painting, specially created for this show, drew inspiration from two classic building complexes: Humble Administrator's Garden and the Suzhou Museum, the latter designed by the master architect Ieoh Ming Pei.
"About a decade ago, I visited Suzhou to see these two remarkable buildings. Though different in architectural style, they have both endured the river of history. In my work, I incorporated a wing, hoping that everyone will find their own sun and aspirations," said Yan Ping, Vice-Chairman of China Artists Association and a professor at Renmin University of China.
Yan Ping's art boldly engages with figures and landscapes, infusing the oil paintings with her unique life experiences to convey thoughts and concerns for the real world. Love and affection are two threads that weave through the different stages of her life, vividly reflected in this artist's work. By capturing strong yet fleeting emotions through drawings, Yan Ping channels the power of love to people through images of "light" and "flight."
In harmony with Suzhou Museum, this exhibition incorporates interactive media elements that emulate traditional windows. These elements bring life to the serene artworks. The play of light and lines in the paintings interacts with the natural light within the building, creating an immersive space that transports guests to a magical world, providing them with a unique and captivating experience.
