The 2023 China International Fair for Trade in Service (CIFTIS) was recently held in Beijing. Shandong Province attended the fair as one of the two guest cities of honour, and Qingdao constituted the best part of the Shandong delegation.

In the promotion themed on Shandong Province as one of the guest provinces of honour, six projects with an intention amount of close to USD70mln were signed, two of which were located in Qingdao. One is the service trade cooperation agreement between the Qingdao SCO Demonstration Area Management Committee and Saudi Arabian PALGON Group, aimed at promoting the co-construction of the Belt and Road Initiative by expanding trade volumes and logistics cooperation; the other is the wireless internet cooperation agreement signed by Thunderobot and the Philippines, focused on cooperation in electronic competition and commercial fields.

Over the three years, Qingdao, one of the Chinese pilot cities to comprehensively deepen the innovation of trade in service, has scored a slew of institutional innovation achievements to boost the high-quality development in the sector. In 2022, Qingdao’s trade in service totaled USD20.89bln. Four cases submitted by Qingdao were included among the outstanding service cases selected in the fair for trade in service. (Liu Lanxing)
