On September 7, the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway, jointly constructed by China and Indonesia, opened to traffic, thus shortening the fastest travel time between the two places from 3.5 hours to 40 minutes.
The significant landmark achievement jointly by China and Indonesia in the co-construction of the Belt and Road Initiative has pooled a slew of Qingdao-manufactured intelligent technologies. The train-sets on the railway, designed and built by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd., have been adapted to local operating environment and railway conditions, integrated with the indigenous culture of Indonesia and subject to adaptive improvements, with a maximum speed of 350 km/h and consisting of eight units, namely four powered carriages and four trailers. Boasting VIP, first-class and second-class seats, and a total capacity of 601 passengers, the train can be under coupled running, and is equipped with accessibility facilities such as toilets for the disabled and braille signs as well as vending machine, coffee makers and micro ovens to meet operating requirements for the railway.
