Sessions under the campaign for “Our Festival, Aojiu Festival” held in many places of Fuzhou

A bowl of Aojiu porridge was offered to pay respects to the elderly. For consecutive days, multiple districts and counties as well as related departments in Fuzhou held activities of all sorts one after another to celebrate the Aojiu Festival (the festival falls on the 29th day of the first lunar month, and is designated by the Fuzhou Municipal Government as the Filial Piety Festival). It is a traditional festival in Fuzhou, designed to carry forward the time-honored custom of caring for the elderly and family members.

On the morning of March 12, the 2026 Minqing session, part of Fuzhou’s campaign for “Our Festival, Aojiu Festival”, was held at the Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family in Sanxi Town, Minqing, Fuzhou. More than 200 old people were invited to the event to celebrate the festival with the masses from all walks of life, which highlighted the theme “offering fragrant porridge to promote filial conduct and good family values”. 

On March 13, the 2026 Lianjiang session under Fuzhou’s campaign for “Our Festival, Aojiu Festival” and the event themed on “lauding the beauty of our hometown, speaking glowingly of the new times” took place in Baisheng Village, Xiao’ao Town. Hundreds of fellow villagers and 99 senior citizens gathered together at the Baisheng Plaza to taste a bowl of auspicious porridge and talk about deep affections for their hometown so that the traditional culture of filial piety continues to thrive and bring about warmth in the new era.

On March 14, the Luoyuan Town session, part of Fuzhou’s 2026 campaign for “Our Festival, Aojiu Festival” and the publicity event themed on civilized city construction were staged at the Minxing Square in Fengshan Town. Underlining the theme “promoting filial conduct and good family values in the Aojiu Festival, building Luoyuan into a civilized and courteous county”, the event communicated in a targeted way fine traditional Chinese virtues and the building of civilized cities to the general public.It is reported that more than 3,500 folk activities of all sorts and levels were held across the city in the 2026 Aojiu Festival, making the whole city bathed in sweet and fragrant Aojiu porridge.
