According to the 2024 Research Report on Talent-friendly Cities released by the Chinese Association of Human Resource Development, Qingdao has ranked among 2024 China’s talent-friendly cities, 2024 China’s most appealing cities in the eyes of talented people and 2024 China’s best cities for talent development. In the first ten months of 2024, Qingdao introduced more than 145,500 new young professionals.

Since the plan of invigorating Qingdao through human resource development was launched in 2022, Qingdao has been improving the policy system for introducing, cultivating, retaining and using human resources, where it is a common place to respect, cherish and make proper use of talented workforce. This year, Qingdao has launched a three-year action plan for drawing postdoctoral researchers to engage in innovation and start their own business in Qingdao, and implemented five campaigns such as recruitment of postdoctoral researchers and talent cultivation. As of the end of October, Qingdao has recruited 786 postdoctoral researchers, and introduced a cumulative total of 8,442 postdoctoral fellows. 77.5% of post-doctoral researchers have chosen to stay in Qingdao after they completed their postdoctoral research.

Such events in 2024 as the “Creativity in Qingdao” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest, the China Qingdao Overseas-educated Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest and the China Shandong Doctoral Degree Holders Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest enable Qingdao to continue to appeal to young workforce.
