Qingdao Today
The automated terminal in Qingdao Port of Shandong Port Group recently set another milestone. In handling Xincheng vessel, the standalone operating efficiency of Qingdao Port’s automated wharf bridge cranes averaged 60.6 natural containers per hours, refreshing the world record for the 11th time. This is the second time that the automated terminal chalked up a new world record following January 1, 2024.
The success in renewing the new world record for handling efficiency twice in a year reflects Qingdao Port’s vigorous efforts to elbow its way among world-class clusters of sea ports. Since the beginning of this year, the automated terminal has been beefing up efforts to tackle technological problems and improve the quality and efficiency of services. The terminal’s handling efficiency has improved by 6% from the year before, with a 15% year-on-year increase in the throughput. The terminal has taken 43 fewer days to attain last year’s total container throughput. (Zhou Xiaofeng)
