According to the recently-unveiled 2024 Research Report on Development of Digital Economy in Chinese Cities as well as top 100 Chinese cities for 2024 in terms of digital economy, Qingdao won the 13th place.

Qingdao performances increasingly well in regard to digital economy, whose ranking has improved by one place from the year before. Over recent years, Qingdao has continued to work hard on digital economy. Qingdao has moved vigorously to develop such emerging industries as integrated circuits, new type displays, virtual reality and artificial intelligence, thus making constant progress in digital industrialization. In 2023, electronic information manufacturing, software and information services among other industries in Qingdao all saw two-digit growth in revenue, leading to a 20% year-on-year rise in the value added of core industries in digital economy.  (Sun Xin)
