The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the China Federation of Industrial Economics recently unveiled the lists of the eighth batch of national manufacturing champions and the second and fifth batches passing the review. Nine enterprises including CRRC Qingdao Sifang Rolling Stock Research Institute Co., Ltd. are newly selected as national manufacturing champions, four companies, one of which is Qingdao Broadband Multimedia Technology Co., Ltd., have passed the review. To date, Qingdao is home to as many as 39 national manufacturing champion enterprises, ranking first in Shandong Province.

Among the nine newly-selected companies, emerging fields including new generation of information technology and biological medicine accounted for 55%, increasing by 38 percentage points from the year before. Overall, 75% of Qingdao’s national champion enterprises are from conventional competitive industrial sectors including machinery industry, chemical engineering and light industry. (Sun Xin)
