Qingdao pushes for a cross-border e-commerce industrial belt 2024/5/24 source: International Daily Print

The Aliexpress and Cainiao Qingdao Industrial Belt Warehouse in the West Coast New Area of Qingdao, the first one established by Aliexpress in northern China, recently went into operation. Thus, cross-border businesses in industrial belts across Qingdao and its vicinity can sell their merchandises globally through trusteeship.

According to data from Qingdao municipal bureau of commerce, in the first quarter of this year, Qingdao’s imports and exports through cross-border e-commerce continued to post faster growth and rose 58.7% year-on-year to RMB 6.45 bln. “The manufacturing sector in Qingdao is complete in range, with a whole set of well-established industrial belt chains. Qingdao is now home to multiple competitive industrial belts including wigs, household appliances, textile and garments, auto parts and beauty products, leading to promising prospects for the 'cross-border e-commerce+industrial belts' integration.” According to a working staff at the Qingdao municipal bureau of commerce, Qingdao’s foreign trade companies have opened more than 25,000 shops (independent stations) on top cross-border e-commerce platforms including Google, Amazon and Made-in-China, and pocketed a combined total of RMB 12 bln in cross-border e-commerce transactions on such newly-developing platforms as SHEIN and TEMU.

In late April this year, Qingdao sent a dedicated team to launch cross-border e-commerce marketing events in such cities as Chongqing, aiming to facilitate the building of a new paradigm for integrating cross-border e-commerce with industrial belts.  (Liu Lanxing)
