The Standardization Administration of the People’s Republic of China recently announced that Qingdao, one of the first batch of seven cities, has passed the acceptance inspection for the campaign on “innovation-oriented cities for standard internationalization”.
Qingdao has taken a lot of concrete actions to promote international standardization. In November 2015, the Qingdao Municipal Government and the National Standardization Administration signed the Memorandum of Cooperation on Facilitating Qingdao’s Efforts to Build an Innovation-oriented City for Standard Internationalization. Since 2017, Qingdao has hosted the forum on international standardization for four years in a row. Qingdao has by far obtained memberships of 25 secretariats of international or national standardization organizations, and undertaken 94 national level pilot projects in 15 categories. Qingdao leads Chinese cities in standardization efforts and has rolled out world-class “Qingdao standards”. By the end of 2023, Qingdao has led or participated in the formulation and revision of 206 international standards, 3,100 national standards and 2,900 industry standards. (Wu Shuai)
