[Fuzhou Evening News]On March 1, the feasibility study report of the Minjiang River Estuary Wetland Restoration Project was approved by the Changle District Development and Reform Bureau. According to the report, the restoration project plans to invest 23,988,300 yuan to repair some wetlands in the Minjiang River estuary (covering an area of about 226 hectares) and construct supporting ancillary facilities.
The main contents of the restoration project include: restoration of land plots that have been rehabilitated to restore moisture, mangrove planting, construction of protective forests, improvement of monitoring stations and patrol roads, intelligent construction, and construction of supporting ancillary facilities. The total investment of the project is estimated to be 23,988,300 yuan, and the construction period is controlled by 12 months.
Over the past 20 years, various ecological protection projects have been carried out to further improve the ecological environment of the wetland in the Minjiang River estuary, such as controlling Spartina alterniflora, cleaning up floating garbage in the sea, and implementing rehabilitation and wetland restoration. The wetland in the Minjiang River estuary has become a paradise for wildlife to inhabit and grow. Currently, there are 1311 species of wild animals and plants in the Minjiang River estuary wetland, including 147 species of plants, 552 species of vertebrates, and 612 species of other aquatic organisms. There are 87 species of wildlife under national key protection, 8 species of extremely endangered species such as spoonbilled snipe and Chinese crested tern, 7 species of endangered species such as black-faced spoonbill and giant snipe, and 11 species of vulnerable species such as goose and blackheaded gull.
In February this year, the Minjiang River Estuary Wetland was officially selected into the list of internationally important wetlands. (Xu Wenyu)
