Following the success of the trial run which lasted 168 hours, the No. 5 unit of Huadian Qingdao gas turbine project, Shandong Province’s first 9F-level heavy type gas turbine project, was recently put into operation and started generating power. The 9F-level dual axis heavy type gas turbine project, with an import substitution rate of up to 95%, currently the highest in China and the largest capacity per unit of 505.54 MW, will help make the urban power grid increasingly reliable and accelerate the green transition in the power source structure.

With a combined investment of RMB 2.202 bln and composed of two 9F-level heavy type gas turbines as per planning, the Huadian Qingdao gas turbine project, which can generate an additional 1.01 million KW capacity after completion and put into operation, is Shandong Province’s first heavy type gas turbine project and has made the quickest progress. Compared with an ultra-clean coal-fired units with the same installed capacity, the project after completion and put into operation can help reduce the consumption of standard coal by approximately 1.5 million tons and cut carbon emissions by around 60%.  (Sun Xin)
