A number of Chinese leading innovation platforms located in Qingdao are catalyzing the original innovation in the future industry. In respect of gene and cell technology, the Qingdao BGI Research Institute has set up the world’s largest marine gene bank where more than 100,000 marine life samples are stored. Regarding quantum information, the Institute of Oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences has conducted studies of quantum sensing in the sector of marine environment and ecological monitoring. As for marine Internet of things, Qingdao boasts the Laoshan Lab, Ocean University of China, the First Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources among other innovation platforms, which have scored brilliant results.
