An exhibition showcases the love of Chinese expatriates for China!

An exhibition displaying letters and remittance certificates sent by Chinese expatriates to China recently kicked off at the Guangdong Overseas Chinese Museum. Titled “Patriotic Passion, Over Mountains and Seas-Guangdong Qiaopi History and Culture Exhibition”, the exhibition showcased the deepest love of overseas Chinese people for their families and China. The word “Qiaopi” in the title refers to both theletters and the remittance certificates sent by overseas Chinese to their families in Guangdong and Fujian in the 19th and 20th centuries. A “Qiaopi”, aka “Yinxin”, is composed of an envelope, personal letters, remittances, and replying letters. Each “Qiaopi” recordsthe strenuous efforts of the old generation of overseas Chinese and their profound love for their hometown and the motherland and embodied the credibility and integrity of the Chinese nation. #artandculture

近日，《家国情怀 跨山越海——广东侨批历史文化展》在广东华侨博物馆开幕。侨批，是指海外华侨通过海内外民间机构汇寄至国内，连带家书或简单附言的汇款和领取包裹的凭证，是一种信、汇合一的特殊邮传载体，又称“银信”。一封侨批由批封、家信、汇款单、回批等部分组成，蕴含着丰富的历史文化信息，真实记录了华侨华人艰辛创业的历程及身处异乡仍心系家国的深厚情怀。
