Boluo Dan Temple Fair celebrated with due grandeur

The three-day 16th Guangzhou Folk Culture Festival and Huangpu Boluo Dan Millennium Temple Fair was held in Nanhai (South Sea) Temple.

The "Five Sons Congratulate on Nanhai King's Birthday", the "Fuxu Dragon Boat Parade" and other ceremonies were held on March 4, the birthday of the South Sea God Boluo.

At about 9 am, the square in front of the Nanhai Temple was full of crowds. People held high the windmill and queued up for nearly a kilometer in the temple to pray for blessings.

The "Five Sons Congratulate on Nanhai King's Birthday" is a grand folk cultural activity at the temple fair. According to folk artists, the ceremony reflects people's desire to pray for good weather, peace, and security, and their pursuit of wealth and prosperity.

为期三天的第16届广州民俗文化节暨黄埔“波罗诞”千年庙会在南海神庙举行，3月4日是“波罗诞”的正诞日，备受关注的“五子朝王”“扶胥号”龙船朝王等仪式在当天盛大举办。

早上9时许，南海神庙前面的广场盛况空前，人们高举祈福风车，排队进入庙内祈福的市民游客一度绵延将近一公里。

“五子朝王”是庙会中的一项盛大民俗文化活动，民间文艺家介绍，该仪式反映了百姓祈求风调雨顺、国泰民安的愿望，体现了乡民对民富物丰的追求。
