Cycads are a national first-class protected wild plant in China. Cycads over 10 years old almost bloom and bear fruit every year, while those in the north never bloom, with flowering only occurring in special circumstances. They are also one of the oldest and most primitive seed plants still existing on Earth, having grown during the same period as #dinosaurs. However, they are now on the brink of extinction, so protecting cycads is essentially protecting the environment that local people depend on for survival. #WildLingnan#Nature

苏铁是国家一级重点保护野生植物，10年以上的苏铁几乎每年开花结果，而北方的苏铁终生不开花，只有特殊情况下偶尔可见开花结果的苏铁。它也是地球上现存最古老、最原始的种子植物，曾与恐龙同时期生长在地球，但现今却处于濒危边缘，所以保护苏铁，其实就是保护当地人赖以生存的环境。
