A pair of giant pandas in central China's Hubei Province are enjoying a fine summer amid slightly cooler temperatures, with panda keepers ensuring the duo are well fed with their own healthy snack package delivered throughout the day.

Despite the scorching summer heat which has gripped many parts of the country, pandas in Hubei's Shennongjia National Park central are enjoying much more pleasant temperatures of around 21-degrees-Celsius. Born in 2008, giant pandas "Yun Yun" and "Ao Yun", whose name means 'Olympics' and was named in honor of that year's Beijing Summer Games, have gained a healthy weight since first arriving in Shennongjia seven years ago.

Thanks to the ideal weather conditions in the area and the dedicated care of panda keepers -- as well as a generous diet -- the pandas have grown considerably during their stay, going from 80 kilograms up to around 135 kilograms.

The cuddly bears are always a big hit with visitors.

"The panda area is particularly spacious, cool, and comfortable. When the panda rolls around, it looks extremely happy," said a young tourist named Sun Xiyao.

To ensure a comfortable summer for the pandas, caretakers have introduced a special seasonal menu for them to feast upon each day.

"Every morning at 08:00 we start by feeding the giant pandas apples, steamed buns, and some vitamin C supplements. In the morning, we also provide fresh bamboo, and in the afternoon, we give them honey and apples," said panda keeper Xiang Bin.

After breakfast, the pandas may also get to enjoy their own special teatime, with some refreshing drinks keeping the pair cool.

"If the temperature is very high, we will offer them Chrysanthemum tea or mung bean water at 10:00," said park engineer Liu Xuxia.
