A cultural event celebrating the upcoming Duanwu Festival, a tradition Chinese festival, was held in Brasilia, Brazil on Friday.
The event was themed on Duanwu Meeting Festa Junina since the Duanwu Festival, or the Dragon Boat Festival, falls on June 22 this year and coincides with Brazil's month-long June Festival for good harvest.
Over 200 students and teachers from more than 10 institutions in Brasilia, as well as local Chinese culture lovers, participated in the event and experienced the charm of traditional and modern Chinese culture from calligraphy works, paper cuttings, Chinese tea, to martial art performance. They also ate Zongzi, glutinous rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves that Chinese people make during the Duanwu Festival.
The event was jointly held by the Chinese Embassy in Brazil and the Brazilian branch of China Media Group (CMG).
Young diplomats from the embassy introduced the culture of Duanwu Festival and the development status of China-Brazil relations to participants.
