Spanish artist Alejandro Sanchez has weaved through the Chinese and Spanish cultures by performing the world-renowned art form flamenco in mandarin, impressing audiences with resounding melodious tone and artistic aesthetic appreciation.
Alejandro Sanchez, known by his stage name 'El Tumbaíto' - has unprecedentedly performed the unique art form flamenco in Chinese and translating the classic song 'Volare' into mandarin. And he has given unforgettable performances in Chinese cities like Yiwu, Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
"Music is a universal language that goes beyond mandarin or Spanish, it's a language that weaves together both cultures of China and Spain. We can also connect with other cultures through this way," Tumbaíto said.
Flamenco is an art form of music and dance that dates back centuries here in Spain. For most people in Asia, it is an iconic symbol of Spanish culture.
Artists like El Tumbiato who have managed to perform in Chinese are dedicating to presenting the elegant art form to a much wider audience in China.
The Wang family are die-hard fans and they watched as many performances as possible, immersing themselves in the enchantment of the latest El Tumbiato concert in Zaragoza city.
"My uncle introduced us, and he immediately became my brother. I really appreciate Spanish arts. And I think our cultures can get very closer because we do have similarities like our strong sense of family for example," said Monica Wang, a teacher and translator who is fascinating with flamenco.
Legendary flamenco names like Camarón, Ni?a Pastori, The Gypsy Kings, and Paco de Lucia turned a Spanish passion into a global phenomenon.
The Chinese National Traditional Orchestra even cooperated with flamenco dancers in Madrid and Barcelona at special concerts in celebrating 50 years of official diplomatic relations between the two nations this year.
Now Tumbaíto is helping flamenco gaining popularity in China too and he's ready to set out for a brand new tour in China.
With the doors opening anew, this Spanish spectacle is fascinating a new generation of flamenco aficionados.
