Car collection at Jordan’s Royal Automobile Museum offers roadtrip through nation’s history 2024/5/24 source: International Daily Print

The car collection at Jordan's Royal Automobile Museum in Amman offers visitors a roadtrip through the Middle Eastern nation's history at the region's only automotive museum.

The museum was built in 2003 as a tribute to the late King Hussein, and as a platform to showcase part of Jordan's history with every vehicle ever owned by the Jordanian royal family on display.
The museum welcomes large numbers of students, who come on the weekends to enjoy the exhibitions and learn about their motherland's history.
"For us, the automobiles here at the museum are also the history of the entire country of Jordan. Through these cars, you can know what this country was like 50 or 60 years ago. You can feel the differences between the era your ancestors lived and the era you live in," said Izzeddine Samadi, a student of Jordan University.
Jordan is located at the crossroads of traditional eastern and western caravan routes, which made it one of the first countries in the Middle East to have automobiles.
Jordan's unique natural scenery has featured in many movies, especially science fiction movies, such as "The Martian", "Dune", and "Transformers".
Jordan is committed to more diversified development by creating a unique economic, cultural and historical profile for itself.
