With Hollywood science fiction blockbuster "Dune: Part 2" spellbinding audiences in theaters across the country, its director Denis Villeneuve and producer Tanya Lapointe are in China to engage with fans of the series and experience the local culture.
The pair visited the Forbidden City in Beijing, immersing themselves in Chinese history and culture.
Villeneuve also participated in a post-screening event on Thursday, where he engaged with the audience and expressed his gratitude to the Chinese people.
"What attracted me about the edition of the book is that it's not about technology. It's about the triumph of human spirit. In the Dune universe, AI has been banned, and the focus of humanity is to increase the potential of the humans. The technology is in the background. The focus more of the human journey," said the director.
Along with the 2021 hit film "Dune," the recent film is the second installment of an adaption of the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert.
