With cultural tourism gaining traction, the Museum of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture in southwest China's Yunnan Province has attracted numerous visitors and teenagers to enjoy the glamor and uniqueness of local folklores as well as historical inheritance and cultural deposit of Bai ethnic group.
The museum has received growing streams of visitors during the summer vocation, with viewers accumulating to around 60,000 from July 1 to Aug 9, setting record highs, showing a year-on-year increase of 107.69 percent.
"We bring our kids to local museums on every trip. Just now we learned about the history of Dali, from which we can benefit a lot," said Huang Yao, a tourist from southwestern municipality of Chongqing.
The museum boasts stunning traditional clothes and craftworks from the Bai ethnic group, with many exhibits featuring history, culture and customs of the ethnic group.
"I think such a museum can make us learn more about the civilization and history of Dali and at the same time showcase the longstanding, unique and glorious history of the prefecture," said Ge Xianlin, a visitor from Beijing.
In addition, the museum has conducted various exchanges with museums and institution in other regions, such as exchange of collections, interactive dialogues and other means for cultural interaction.
"[The exhibitions in the museum] can allow visitors from other places to integrate into their destination and learn more about this place. For local residents, they can get a deep understanding of their hometown, which will enhance their sense of identity," Chen Kuo-Ning, director of Cross-Strait Museum Exchanges and Development Committee.
