More young people across China today are attracted by the vigorous wet markets as they can enjoy fresh produce, considerate services, and convenient payment at their fingertips.

In Hangzhou City of east China's Zhejiang province, a wet market named Damanong Alley is located in an old residential area with many residents living there for generations. Dubbed as "the last street market in Hangzhou", the place has become a must-see tourist spot among visitors.
"This place I find online looks quite authentic and nice, as there are many local delicacies here and I can get a feel of the local culture. So I am here for both the food and cultural atmosphere," said a visitor.
In a wet market in central China's Wuhan City, customers find it easy to pay electronically and to check the real-time information updates on the market's food safety. Many young people are attracted by the convenience.
"I was surprised when I first came here. It's not as dirty and messy as I had expected. I work nearby so it's very convenient for me to buy vegetables here after work," a local resident said.
In southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, a wet market chose to diversify its business by introducing a barbecue restaurant and coffee stalls, which proved to be popular among young people.
"It's nice to have barbeque in a wet market with vegetables around. The environment makes the meat taste even better," said a diner.
