An exhibition of classic Chinese and international films kicked off last weekend, with screenings scheduled across 27 cities in China until September.

Launched by China's Nationwide Alliance of Arthouse Cinemas, the film exhibition offers film lovers the opportunity to revisit 16 iconic films from both China and around the world, including "Romance on Lushan Mountain," a 1980 blockbuster.
"Love is the core theme of the film exhibition. The movies screened span more than 70 years. The highlight is the launch of 4K restored versions of many films, striving to reproduce these screen classics with perfect sound and picture quality," said Wang Xiaonan, a programmer with the Nationwide Alliance of Arthouse Cinemas of China.
"It's precious to see so many classic Chinese and foreign films at once. Each one is a memory of an era and lets us feel the charm of both the films and the theme of love," said Huang Yuanyuan, an audience member.
During the film festival, audience can not only relive classic films but also experience a strong cultural atmosphere. Cinemas participating in the event will roll out a series of interactive activities, creating a new cultural space for cinema-goers.
In addition, supporting events such as film appreciation classes at colleges and universities, post-screening discussions, and weekend movie fairs will also be held during the screening period, extending the event's popularity and engagement.
"In addition to screening films on weekdays, we also arrange screening activities to meet the needs of audiences who only have time off on weekends. We will also hold regular post-screening salons and film exchange activities, so that more fans can get close to the classics and feel the unique charm of film culture," said Li Xin, manager of the Radio and TV Center branch of Xinxing Cinema Lanzhou.
