Inheritors of the intangible heritage paper-cutting in east China's Anhui Province have been busy making intricate artworks featuring the Chinese zodiac Year of the Loong as people order paper-cutting pieces to prepare for the upcoming Spring Festival, which falls on Feb 10 this year.
Customers are fascinated with the Huizhou paper-cutting works when they walk in a paper-cutting workshop in the ancient town of Huizhou in Anhui's Huangshan City.
Huizhou paper-cutting is an intangible cultural heritage of Anhui Province.
This year, handicraftsmen have created plenty of loong-themed designs featuring the upcoming Year of the loong, such as calendars and decorations.
As the demand for paper-cutting pieces has surged, the craftsmen are busy working to fulfill the orders.
"We have prepared over ten types of paper-cutting featuring the Year of the Loong. They have been well received domestically, with many loyal customers inquiring about new artworks for the new year. The sales abroad have also been quite good," said Wu Shuang, an inheritor of Huizhou paper-cutting.
