The Qingdao First Bathing Beach is among the best summer resorts of citizens and tourists.

The First Bathing Beach, built in 1901, is also called Huiquan Bathing Beach because it is located along the picturesque Huiquan Bay. With a coast line of 660m, the bathing beach, half-moon-shaped and characterized by limpid water, gentle waves, flat beaches, and fine and soft sand, is among the most suitable swimming sites in Qingdao and annually welcomes 4 million visitors.

The First Bathing Beach has changed dramatically this summer. Citizens and tourists are able to experience fashionable sports including sailing, surfing, paddle boarding, powered surfboarding, ocean yachting, etc.

To make surfboarding increasingly popular, the National Powered Surfboarding (Qingdao Leg) Competition was held in the First Bathing Beach and attracted the participation of a number of young contestants.

In August, the 2023 Qingdao Beach Rugby Championship also took place in the First Bathing Beach and gathered more than 500 rugby athletes from over 50 countries and regions. William, an athlete from South Africa, came to Qingdao for the first time. Photos and videos about the competition he posted on social media have received likes from numerous rugby enthusiasts. “It is so fabulous to play a beach rugby game in Qingdao.” said William.  (Xu Nuo)
