Scenic spots across China with distinctive cultural and historical characteristics have wowed many tourists during the long Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday running from Sept 29 to Oct 6.
In Hongya County of southwest China's Sichuan Province, performances like classics recitals and intangible cultural heritage shows are staged at the old town of Liujiang every day during the holiday.
Performance held on water in particular adds charm to the scenic town at night.
In the Fenghuang Ancient City of central China's Hunan Province, colorful lights along the Tuojiang River immerse tourists in a fairyland at night.
"This year, all boats at the wharf would depart by 19:00. It is estimated that there are 5,000 to 6,000 tourists in the city every night," said a tourism operator.
"It's impressive. It is really worth coming here. I will come again," said a tourist.
In Shanghai, scenic spots open to the public free of tickets, like the Wukang Road, the University Road, night markets and the Bund, have been popular among tourists.
"I think Shanghai is full of cultural heritage as there are so many great buildings here. It's really hard to preserve them with over 100 years of history," said a tourist.
