The Fareast Cup International Regatta made a comeback after a lapse of three years. The regatta, which sailed off on September 1 in the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center, will mark a one-month-long oceangoing voyage passing via Vladivostok in Russia and Mkpo in South Korea.
The event attracted the participation of seven fleets composed of nearly 100 sailors from eights countries and regions including China, Russia, South Korea and the US.
Found in 2016, the Fareast Cup International Regatta is an international trans-oceanic event initiated by Qingdao, aimed at bolstering sports and people-to-people exchanges in Northeast Asia through sailing and nautical sports and setting up a platform for cooperation on sports, culture, tourism, economy and trade between China, Russia and South Korea. After continuous upgrading for four times, the Fareast Cup event has added international elements and new impetus to Qingdao’s sailing and ended the history of no long-haul regatta in the Asia-Pacific Region.
