Qingdao recently published and released the Qingdao Action Plan on Building Strength in Advanced Manufacturing (2023-2025), according to which Qingdao will strive to become an advanced manufacturing powerhouse, the share of value added in the manufacturing sector will reach around 29% of Qingdao’s GDP, industrial value added will represent close to 30% of Qingdao’s GDP, all the industrial enterprises above designated scale have R&D institutions, industrial internet platform will see an about 50% penetration rate, and industry chains and supply chains will be broadly improved in resilience and safety.

According to the action plan, Qingdao will underline high-end orientation, application of intelligent technology, green development, cluster development, the service-oriented strategy and eco-friendly development to help the manufacturing sector faster pivot towards advanced manufacturing. In regard to high-end orientation, Qingdao will be home to around 10 manufacturing innovation centers above the municipal level by 2025; in regard to application of intelligent technology, 10 municipal level or above digital technology-featured parks will be built, and more than 50,000 enterprises will use cloud platforms; in regard to green development, more than 30 green factories or green supply chain management companies will be newly cultivated; in regard to cluster development, the top seven competitive industries will see a total market size of over RMB1tln; in regard to the service-oriented strategy, there will be more than 100 demonstration service-oriented manufacturing enterprises above the municipal level; in regard to eco-friendly development, around 40 enterprises will be designated as national level manufacturing champions in their fields.  (Sun Xin)
