mutual learning between China and Europe was held in Beijing on Saturday, showcasing Chinese scholars' latest research findings on European civilization.
At the forum hosted by the Chinese Academy of History, "The Evolution of European Civilization", a 16-volume book, was released, marking a significant step forward in building an independent knowledge system for the discipline of world history in China.
"This book objectively examines European civilization from the perspectives of Chinese scholars through their own discourse and understanding," said Han Dongyu, dean of the Institute of East Asian Studies, Northeast Normal University.
By systematically tracing the historical development of European civilization, the book attempts to reveal its internal logic and structural characteristics, providing the Chinese academic community with a paradigm for civilization research that is rooted in local contexts and reflects on the world.
"Although there are different expressions in different historical periods, the main theme of promoting each other's growth through mutual learning among civilizations has never changed," said Liu Zuokui, director of the Institute of World History, the Chinese Academy of History.
