A symphonic concert marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Palace Museum was held in Beijing on Saturday.

Titled "Eternal Civilization - The 100th Anniversary of the Palace Museum Symphonic Concert," the event was co-produced by the museum and the China National Symphony Orchestra.
The orchestra and its chorus performed at the Beijing Concert Hall. The concert featured the world premiere of "The Palace Museum" Symphonic Picture and Symphony No. 3 - Dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Palace Museum, both composed by Tang Jianping.
"On this special occasion, it is of unique significance to release a music piece. I created the work by setting the Palace Museum in a big cultural context. In front of our own culture, every Chinese can feel the emotions flowing in our veins and sense the beauty inherited from our culture. Touched by this feeling, the work contains greater inclusiveness. It is also fused with the concept of universal harmony, which is deeply rooted in our Chinese nation's thinking, and the contemporary idea of building a community with a shared future for mankind," Tang said.
On Oct 10, 1925, the Palace Museum was established based on the Forbidden City, once the imperial palaces of the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, and opened to the public for the first time, along with its priceless imperial art collections.
Today, the museum ranks among the most visited museums in the world. In 2009, its visitor flows surpassed 10 million for the first time, with the figure exceeding 17.6 million in 2024.
