The Chinese animated blockbuster "Ne Zha 2" premiered in Peru on Saturday, captivating a packed audience in the capital Lima.
"Ne Zha 2," released in January this year, has become a global success, grossing 15.9 billion yuan (approximately 2.24 billion U.S. dollars) in the world by the end of June.
Based on a 16th-century Chinese mythology with a bold reinterpretation, it is the world's highest-grossing movie of all time in a single market and the fifth highest-grossing movie in global film history.
Prior to the premiere in Lima, movie goers enjoyed a Chinese cultural performance featuring dragon dance and sword dance.
In an interview with China Central Television, Phillip Chu Joy, a Peruvian influencer, highly commented on the film, noting that the film surpassed his expectations with its exceptional production quality and compelling storyline.
"It's really stunning and amazing. Everything I've seen from this movie surpasses what I can expect from an animated film -- from the sequences, the dialogues, the story. So it's really exciting to see China not only keeping up [but also] surpassing what people expect," said Phillip.
"Ne Zha 2" will be officially released in Peru on Sept 25.
