QINGDAO -- Concretely implementing the outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) for national economic and social development, Qingdao City of east China's Shandong Province is advancing its endeavor in upgrading health care with frontier technologies including embodied artificial intelligence (AI) and brain-computer interfaces.
Qingdao City is exploring new feasible business models and fostering new growth drivers through its 9,600-square-meter sci-tech application and training center, which is testing 43 enterprises' more than 210 types of health care products.
The products featuring embodied AI and brain-computer interfaces cover over 10 application scenarios in five major categories including home-based and institution-based elderly care.
After the highly smart services become mature and stable following the trainings, they will be used to serve needy elderly people or other people in need.
Those under tests include one robot especially designed for elderly people living alone.
Equipped with laser radar, ultrasonic-wave radar, cameras and relevant algorithms, the robot is capable of identifying situations including an elderly person falling down and notifying emergency contacts.
At the brain-computer-interface synergy training area, a non-invasive AI headset is capable of collecting a person's electroencephalogram signals towards a toy car and then quantifying the degree of concentration.
The higher the concentration, the faster the toy car runs. In this way, the device helps the person exercise concentration.
