The number of China-Central Asia freight train trips had surpassed 69,000 as of Aug 31, 2025, transporting a total of 5.19 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of cargo, according to China State Railway Group Co., Ltd.
In the first eight months of this year, a total of 9,626 China-Central Asia freight trains were operated, marking a historic high for the same period, with 751,000 TEUs shipped, an increase of 22.7 percent and 31.1 percent year on year, respectively.
With the launch of the China-Laos Railway and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the China-Asia freight train service, on a broader scale, continues improving and expanding. The network now covers 28 provincial-level administrative regions and 128 prefecture-level cities in China and reaches over 100 cities in 11 Asian countries.
