In summer days, Qingdao boasts not only its enchanting scenery, but also passionate sports. Fashionable sports are arousing the vitality of Qingdao this summer.

The Old Stone Man Bathing Beach, one of the most famous surfing site in northern China, draws an endless stream of tourists in the surfing season from every June to October. On July 23, the “Qingdao Cup” Surfing Open Tournament took place on the site. Pushing the board, standing up and jumping, surfers seem like sea swallows flying lightly on the blue sea surface. Surfing is a newly added item in the 2023 fashionable sports league, attracting the participation of more than 60 surfing enthusiasts from across the country.

In addition to surfing, many other fashionable sport items such as flag football, extreme frisbee, kittenball, indoor skiing, figure skating and karting are included in the 2023 fashionable sports league that kicked off in late June. At the end of this June, 50 teams from across the country attended China’s biggest official flag football game, in which the youngest contestant aged only eight. Extreme frisbee, kittenball, karting and surfing will be launched one after another, and the quota of contestants is instantly snapped up. For instance, extreme frisbee merely attracts more than 400 contestants of 16 teams from across the country.

As another similar sports trendsetter, the fourth Qingdao fashionable sports festival, which kicked off on July 14, fascinated citizens and tourists with fashionable sports through fitness-for-all programs, street art, national tradition and parent-child recreation.

On July 14, the boxing championship was staged in the Golden Beach Beer City, in which the rivalry between topnotch athletes satisfied the craving of audiences. The right-hand wrist wrestling open tournament, which ended on the evening of July 20, witnessed 11 right-handed champions. On July 22, the random dance competition made a shining appearance and began with the exhilarating performance by amateur dancers from across the country and more than 300 college students.
