As indicated in the Study Report of China’s Livable Cities newly released by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Qingdao topped the 40 Chinese cities in respect of the comprehensive livable index. Focused on the target of building itself into a high-quality bay city suitable for living, working and tourism, Qingdao benchmarks itself against world-class bay areas including the Tokyo Bay Area, the New York Bay Area and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to highlight the sharing-oriented urban development mode and change the urban quality in a profound and comprehensive manner.
In addition to perfectly obvious achievements in urban renovation and construction, intelligence and human resources are pouring into the city in an endless stream. The latest census indicates that the permanent resident population in Qingdao has topped 10 million, of which the bulk is composed of new citizens and young people. Furthermore, Qingdao prioritizes improvements in business environment. As of the end of this June, Qingdao is home to more than 2.09 million market entities, a year-on-year increase of 4.52% and showing favourable signals.
With the efforts across the board including improvements in urban functions, spatial expansion, advancement in the quality of life and service transformation and upgrading, Qingdao is increasingly known as a city of charm favoured by local people and attractive to those who are far off.
