With the sunset on the Old Stone Man Bathing Beach, the light show on the Third Bathing Beach, the hustle and bustle of large crowds on Daxue Road and at night fairs of Taidong, thrilling roller coasters in Fante Qingdao and mellow fresh beer in the Qingdao Beer Museum, Qingdao received a daily average of 4.295 million tourists in the Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 22 to June 24, according to big data analysis. The tourist reception and revenue in 83 Grade-A scenic spots saw an increase of 59.04% and 67.2%, respectively compared with 2019. According to the analysis of tourism markets in the Dragon Boat Festival by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Qingdao ranked among the favorite summer resorts. Furthermore, such online travel agencies as ctrip.com, qunar.com and ly.com included Qingdao among the top ten China’s popular tourist destinations.

In the holiday, the Third Bathing Beach, reputed as the site with the most beautiful night scene among tourists, was packed with people. The light show kicked off punctually at 8 p.m. and tourists took out their mobile phones in unison and took photos. “Qingdao is indeed beautiful. I have been to the Golden Beach, Eight Great Passes, Undersea World, May Fourth Square and Zhanqiao Pier. All of them are impressive.” said Yu Chenhui, a tourist from Hangzhou. A study trip team from Hong Kong visited the Museum of the Former German Governor’s House in Qingdao, a century-old building, to experience face-to-face Qingdao’s profound historic and cultural heritage.

In the holiday, more than 20 folk music and jazz performances were held in the former site of the Consulate of Belgium in Qingdao and Xiaohonglou Gallery. The surrounding star hotels including Hilton and Wyndham, chain hotels and homestay hotels saw remarkable increases in occupancy thanks to the Phoenix Music Festival in the West Coast New Area.  (Ma Xiaoting)
