The 2025-2026 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race was successfully capped off after 11 months. “Qingdao” secured the first place in the return voyage, which was the last leg of the circumnavigation event.

Qingdao has established partnership with the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race for 20 years, the longest among all city partners. In the just-concluded season, “Qingdao”, the only sail boat contesting on behalf of China in the event, wrapped up its 10th voyage round the world, and paid visits to 13 ports in 11 countries and regions. It well served a platform to showcase the charm of Qingao as “the sailing capital of China” and “a famous sports city”.

The 2027-2028 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is scheduled to kick off in the summer of 2027. CLIPPER RX, a brand-new fleet for ocean-going voyages, will be adopted in the new season. Sail boats of this new type are now being made in Qingdao, and are scheduled to be completed and transported to the UK for testing and application from the end of this year to early 2027.  (Xu Nuo)
