Early autumn in Laoshan Mountain: A season of transition, anticipation 2026/8/12 source: Print

As li qiu, or Start of Autumn, has now arrived, Laoshan Mountain embraces a perfect blend of late summer's warmth and early autumn's coolness. This transitional season offers one of the most rewarding times to explore its peaks and valleys.

The mountain's lush greenery still holds its summer charm, but a special spectacle awaits at the Mingxia Cave in Taiqing Scenic Area. There, a 600-year-old crape myrtle tree prepares for its annual bloom. Before long, its branches will explode in clouds of pink blossoms, set against the backdrop of ancient Taoist temples and vivid blue skies.

Laoshan Mountain's early autumn sky shines in pure blue, with fluffy white clouds drifting over the endless mountain and sea views. The clear mountain air carries the fresh scent of pine and a hint of sea breeze — invigorating and soothing.

Along the Jiushui trail, streams now flow with gentle ease, their cool waters inviting visitors to pause and refresh. Shaded by dense trees and surrounded by striking rock formations, each step offers a moment of calm. Whether awaiting the crape myrtle bloom or simply enjoying the mountain's serene transition, early autumn is a time to reconnect with nature's quiet rhythm.
