A year ago, Qingdao envisaged and put forward the idea of building itself into “China’s wellness-oriented bay area” given its distinctive strengths and resource endowments. Now, one year has passed. The idea of building “China’s wellness-oriented bay area” has entered the stage of implementation in a comprehensive way following systemic planning and decision making, and commencement of construction.

Over the year, more than 30 high-end innovation-oriented platforms in the wellness industry, including the key laboratory for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation under University of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, and the key laboratory for neurological rehabilitation, have been established at a faster pace. Qingdao has taken the lead in building China’s first training site for rehabilitation robots, and participated in the formulation of national standards on the application of rehabilitation robots.

Over the year since Qingdao launched the initiative to build itself into “China’s wellness-oriented bay area”, Qingdao has worked in a systematic way to advance the building of high-quality wellness-oriented communities, featured wellness sites and professional wellness facilities, and developed 14 high-quality wellness neighborhoods to grow into a popular sojourn and health destination. 

Qingdao is taking a whole-picture approach, embracing systemic thinking and prioritizing full-life-cycle demands to develop “China’s wellness-oriented bay area” into a healthy life community characterized by beautiful environment, remarkable life quality and meaningful industry. (Yang Guang)
