Qingdao was recently chosen as one of China's first cities for national new-type industrialization demonstration zones.
As an important battlefield for developing new quality productive forces, this initiative aims to drive high-quality growth in the manufacturing sector through innovation-led, transformative development. To fulfill this national objective, Qingdao has outlined a strategic framework to become a hub for new quality productive forces and an innovation center for AI-driven industrialization.
The city aspires to serve as a global hub for advanced manufacturing cooperation and a model for integrated land-sea development, capitalizing on its unique maritime industrial strengths. Technological innovation remains the main driver.
Qingdao is developing a comprehensive process, from basic research and pilot testing to industrial transformation, to commercialize advances in deep-sea exploration, marine IoT, and bio-medicine.
Qingdao is also upgrading its industrial structure by developing four state-level clusters and empowering leading enterprises to drive vertical integration across entire supply chains.
Qingdao is redefining its growth strategy through digital and green transitions. By implementing a "Qingdao solution" for full-value-chain digitization, the industry is moving from resource dependency to green-driven growth.
To support this, Qingdao is nurturing a "rainforest-style" ecosystem, fostering a diverse talent base ranging from innovative SMEs and specialized and sophisticated "little giant" firms to world-class manufacturing leaders. This strong industrial ecosystem ensures that enterprises of all sizes can thrive, providing sustainable momentum for the city's industrial modernization.
