The maximum number of daily orders secured by Neolix, a Chinese leader in unmanned vehicles, in Qingdao has so far exceeded 5,000. Among them, as many as 1,200 vehicles are bought for the purpose of operation. This enables Qingdao to overtake San Francisco, where the American automatic driving company Waymo is based, as the world’s largest city in the sector of unmanned vehicles.
“We used to spend RMB 5,000 to 6,000 on logistics per month. Now, a little more than RMB 2,000 is enough.” While Dai Yongxing, the general manager of Qingdao Zhongji Tools Co., Ltd., made the statement smilingly, another driverless vehicle passed steadily by him. Such a scene is no longer a novelty in the streets and lanes of Qingdao.
“As more and more vehicles ride on the road and the data training model continues to improve, L4 autonomous driving will see remarkable progress in smoothness and reliability.” According to Yang Jingwei, the director in charge of governmental affairs in Shandong Province in Neolix Unmanned Vehicles, the Company plans to help build Qingdao into a role model for unmanned distribution in the world, and to put up an intelligent logistics network across the city by 2026 through scale expansion, scenario innovation and technological upgrading.
