Qingdao plans to build a 1,000-meter-long experimental platform for high-speed maglev 2025/12/12 source: International daily Print

CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. recently made an announcement on the bidding of its ultra-high-speed magnetic levitation (maglev) multi-physics coupling electromagnetism experimental platform route building and design project. As specified in the announcement, the company will newly build an about 1,000-meter-long route for the ultra-high-speed maglev multi-physics coupling electromagnetism experimental platform. With a designed speed of 660 km/h, the route after completion will be used for engineering verification of the existing high-speed maglev technology as well as principle-oriented research on novel technology. This also means that the world’s first maglev transportation system with a high speed of 600 km/h has finished the laboratory test and entered the new stage of high speed performance verification and training.

With proprietary intellectual property rights, the maglev transpiration system boasting a high speed of 600 km/h officially rolled off the assembly line in Qingdao in July 2021. The achievement marks that China has mastered a package of high-speed maglev technology and become able to apply the technology in projects. The experimental platform, which features in the bidding announcement made by Qingdao, is intended to verify the maglev transportation system at a high speed of 660 km/h and the possibility of arriving at a speed of 800 km/h on the 1,000-meter-long route through weight or resistance decreases, and traction performance improvement among other measures. Furthermore, the experimental platform will be used to facilitate research on multiple maglev technologies such as electric maglev and pinning maglev, thus providing ample imagination for advancing technological application and industrial development.  (Liu Lanxing)
