In the first 10 months of this year, the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area, known as SCODA in Qingdao, launched 374 TIR cross-border shipments, transporting 5,917 metric tons of goods valued at 245 million yuan ($34.64 million), maintaining its top position nationwide in TIR operations.
Transports International Router is a global customs facilitation mechanism for cross-border goods. With its convenient and efficient process, it has become a preferred logistics option.
"TIR certificates act as a 'green channel' — no unloading, no long queues at customs. It's much more efficient," said Zhao Jiaqi, deputy general manager of a local logistics company.
At SCODA's TIR consolidation center, trucks with fresh produce, machinery, and cross-border goods shuttle, delivering Chinese products directly to SCO member countries. Efforts are also underway to explore new models such as "TIR + bonded logistics" and dedicated return routes for meat imports via Manzhouli.
Currently, SCODA operates four international road routes connecting China with Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan, and Belarus-Russia. To further expand TIR services, the "Silk Road e-commerce TIR channel" launched in August, supporting faster logistics for cross-border e-commerce.
