In recent years, Qingdao has strategically positioned itself as a key player in China's growing mini-drama industry. Leveraging its diverse landscapes, advanced technology, and established film infrastructure, the city is rapidly building a vibrant ecosystem for this emerging sector.
Shandong province has identified mini-dramas as a key breakthrough in developing new quality productive forces in the broadcasting, audio-visual, and cultural tourism sectors. Qingdao, skilled in capturing trends, is participating in this competitive space.

From January to September, the city approved 57 key mini-drama projects, making up 44 percent of the province's total. Since the beginning of this year, it has attracted over 160 film crews to shoot on location, with more than 230 Qingdao-produced mini-dramas broadcast on leading platforms.
Government support has been crucial. Qingdao has introduced comprehensive policies and financial incentives in recent years, including a dedicated fund, to foster high-quality production. This has already yielded results, with the first batch of subsidies awarded to several premium projects.
The city now hosts multiple production bases, including three provincial demonstration sites, which have created over 8,000 jobs and boosted local ancillary businesses. These hubs have attracted hundreds of companies, forming a robust collaborative network.
