The 2024 World Virtual Reality Innovation Conference was held in Qingdao on November 12 and 13, gathering 1,000-plus experts and scholars, entrepreneurs and representatives from financial institutions to exchange opinions on cooperation and development. As indicated in the 2024 Virtual Reality Industry Development Report unveiled in the conference, Qingdao and Nanchang, two cities where national virtual reality manufacturing innovation centers are located, have emerged as role models for China’s virtual reality industry innovation and gathering.
The Qingdao Virtual Reality Industry Park is currently home to such leading companies as GoerTek and DPVR as well as core supporting companies including Goermicro, Goeroptics and Huanchuang, whose shipment of high-end VR products represents over 80% of China’s total. In the event, more than 30 companies in the industry signed agreements with Qingdao. Chu Xianfeng, deputy director of Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, noted, “In the next step, Qingdao will unveil a three-year plan for metaverse industry development to bring into full play the role of such institutions as the virtual reality innovation and sharing center, promote “hardware-software-content-application” integration across the chain and the life cycle, and achieve coordinated development between small-, medium- and large-sized upstream and downstream companies.
