The Sinotrans Qingdao nonferrous minerals synthesis and distribution center recently went into operation in the Qingdao Area of China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone. With a total investment of RMB 160 mln, the project, which boasts an annual mixing and processing capacity of 400,000 tons for cooper ore concentrates, will help the Qingdao FTZ to supply a broad range of mineral ores across Northeast Asia.

After the pilot program for bonded mixing of cooper ore concentrates has been widened, the project is the first bonded mixing project for cooper ore concentrates in China to garner approval from the General Administration of Customs of the PRC. Provided with first-class facilities and equipment, the project is capable of achieving mixing of six kinds of commodities simultaneously, and will launch in due time new mixing modes for other mineral products such as gold ore concentrates. “By taking advantage of Qingdao Port’s wharf strength, the project, after put into operation, will further help the commodity industry in the FTZ to extends upward and downward across the fine processing sector.” said Guo Baocun, deputy director of the Qingdao FTZ Management Committee.  (Wang Kai)
