Hisense Group’s plant in Mexico recently launched the first evaluation for skilled personnel among foreign employees. In consequence, seven highly skilled foreign employees passed vocational skills accreditation tests for electronic equipment debuggers and home electronics maintenance workers. This is the first enterprise from Shandong Province, which is entitled to independent evaluation, to launch a vocational skills accreditation program for foreign employees in its overseas plant.

Hisense Group’s plant in Mexico, which mainly manufactures TV sets for the American market, now hires about 4,000 foreign employees, representing nearly 98.7% of the total workforce. In accordance with the registered standard of independent evaluation and in light of the reality in the plant, Hisense has set up a database for theoretical exams and practical operation tests that fits all kinds of jobs, and taken a rule-based approach for theoretical and practical operation tests, and oral examinations. These foreign employees who are granted with vocational skills accreditation certificates are entitled to a monthly skills allowance ranging from RMB 300 to RMB 2,000, and will be preferred in job promotion.

This evaluation program in Mexico aimed to try to apply China’s skilled personnel evaluation criteria overseas, and is helpful for Qingdao-based companies to train an increasing number of local highly skilled personnel in their overseas locations. (Ren Xiaomeng)
